We recently went to SC to visit friends Amy and Russell, and Lynn, Nick and Nick Jr. We had so much fun! We rented a nice house in the Isle of Palms and grilled everyday. The little boys had fun with each other even though they didn't really know how to play together. The weather was nice and we went swimming and to the beach. The boys loved the beach! Evan update

I have been slacking on updating my blog. Now I am trying to get everyone caught up with new pictures.

Evan had his 1 year appointment on 8/20. Doctor said that he is doing great. He is 24.12 lbs. and a little over 30in. tall. I talked to the doctor about getting Evan off the bottle and he said that I should try to get him off the bottle by the time he's 15 months. The longer we wait, the harder it will be. The next day I decided to be a little more aggressive about getting Evan to drink his milk from a sippy cup. I was told by the doctor that when he gets thirsty, he'll drink it. Duh...that makes since. I should have thought of that myself. Anyway. The doctor was right. He drank the milk from the sippy. It wasn't easy at first. I put water in the bottle to help with the transition. He was not happy about that and soon pushed the bottle away. Now that he was successful with his sippy, I now had to get him to take the sippy before his naps and bedtime. Tricky! Evan had been taking a bottle 3 times a day. I decided to try and put him down for the morning nap without a bottle. Surprisingly, no problem. I couldn't believe it! No tears or screams! Next nap, same thing and bedtime was just as easy! Wow! I'm now thinking that I should have done that a long time ago! He has been bottle free for just over a week. What a big boy! We are so proud of him!

We had a nice long visit with Grammie Emery. She was here for 2 weeks and we had a great time. We went shopping and made out really well at a huge consignment sale. Evan is now set for Fall.

Poor Evan has been grumpy the past few days and he has also been trying to give up his morning nap. Some days he skips it and other days he needs

it. He has also been getting more teeth in. Another one on the bottom has popped through and there's a couple up top that are trying to come through. It is such a slow process. I think I hate teething as much as he does!

Oh! I almost forgot! A week after Evan's birthday, Grammie and I took him up to Toys R Us. We are a member of Geoffrey's Birthday club. WooHoo! We received an invitation to bring him up to the store and they would give him something special. He got a balloon and and birthday crown. He was so cute! He loved the balloon. I got a few pictures from that day and with his Grandma.

Kilt

Eric ordered kilts for him and Evan the other day. They will both wear them for special occasions or just for fun. They will definitely wear them on Eric's birthday (St. Patrick's Day). While we were visiting up North, one Eric's buddies has a kilt for himself and his one year old daughter. We put the kilt on Evan to see how it fit and it looks great! I can't wait to get his new kilt and try it on him again! I will get pics of them both in their new kilts! Here's a couple of Evan from July.

Today is Evan Birthday! I can't believe he's a year old. How did that happen!? We had a small celebration yesterday with cake, munchies and a few gifts. It was a great day and Evan enjoyed his cake! Here are some pictures from the big day.

Snack Cup

Here's a picture of the snack cups that I have for Evan. It's designed in such a way that the snacks inside won't spill out and all you have to do is reach in and grab the food. Easy right? I have been working with Evan on sticking his little hand in and pulling out his snack. He can do it! He just doesn't want to. He figured out that all he has to do is put his thumb on one of the flaps and shake the cup. Whatever is inside ends up all over the floor. Then, he sits down and proceeds to eat off the floor! I have been putting baby goldfish in the cups and I have little fish under the couch. Those are the ones he can't get to and eat. Hopefully he will change his ways and not make such a mess. (wishful thinking I guess) That probably won't happen!

Evan Update

Evan has been walking everywhere! He is exploring all over the house and he is so proud of himself. It felt weird coming home from our trip and having him walking around. It seemed as though we left with a baby and brought home a toddler! Crazy! We are now getting ready to pack away the walker and the exersaucer. :( I can't believe it! He has been trying to chase the cat but is not quite quick on his feet. He wants to run but when he tries to get his feet going, he falls. It's so funny to see him, as small as he is, walking all over.

We started him on whole milk yesterday. At first we decided to mix it with formula but he wasn't happy about that. Next, we just gave him the milk by itself and he drank it. He likes it! So, now I'm just trying to gradually get him off the bottle and so far he's down to just 3 bottles a day. That's pretty good considering it took awhile to get him on a sippy cup. He is doing great with his sippy so I don't have to pack a bottle with me when I have to go out. Nice!

He still has only 4 teeth but is working on more. I hate the whole teething process. I wish they would hurry up and pop through. It is taking so long for the other teeth to come in. In the meantime, I have been trying to take care of the ones he has by brushing them. I have been pretty inconsistent but at least he doesn't mind the brushing. However, the other night Evan was in the tub so I got the toothbrush, wet it, and started brushing his teeth. His mouth got foamy and I didn't know why. (I don't use toothpaste.) I tasted it and there was soap on it! I basically washed his mouth out with soap! Somehow in our travels, the bathwash I had leaked and got on the toothbrush. I felt so bad but the funny part is that he didn't seem to mind. It was definitely yucky!

I have more pictures from our trip that I will eventually post. I have been busy unpacking and tidying up the house. I can only do so much while the little man is sleeping. I will get them up soon and keep you posted on Evan's progress!

Portrait Day

Today we went to JC Penney to have pictures taken of the cousins. Tia's kids Josh, Jason, and Tiana and little Evan. Josh and Jason are 8 and 10 and Tiana is 17 months. We started out with all four together and that was quite a challenge. Evan was crying, Tiana was unhappy. We were giving them snacks to change their mood but that didn't help. They took turns walking away and crying. Poor Evan was a wreck. It was crazy! Somehow we did manage to get a few good pics believe it or not. Plus, we were able to get a nice pic of Tiana and Evan together. I don't know how that happened with all the caos but it worked out. It definitely was exhausting.

I finally got some video of Evan walking. He started walking last Thursday and hasn't stopped. If he falls down, he gets right back up and keeps going. He is so proud of himself!

NH Visit Update

Evan has been walking up a storm! He is getting better and better everyday. I will hopefully have some pics and video up soon. Yesterday we went to Kittery, ME to visit friends Ryan, Sue and their little one Keele. We had a great time and Evan and Keele got along great. He really liked her and giggled at everything she did. We are also having a great time with family. Evan and Tiana (his 16 month old cousin) were playing together today. Later this afternoon we're all going outside to play. The backyard is a mini amusement park! It's going to be fun!

Evan has also started signing milk and I think he is understanding what he's doing. Today while we were in the car, Evan was getting fussy so I gave him juice. He pushed it away and signed milk! I'm so excited!

Evan update

Evan is doing well. He has taken a few steps here and there but is mainly walking around the furniture. He still stands very well by himself. He is getting so big! In 6 weeks he'll be one! I can't believe it! This first year has gone by way too fast.

We are getting ready for a trip up to NH to visit Eric's family. I am so excited. Eric's family hasn't seen Evan in awhile and I think they will be surprised at how much he has changed. I hope the flight up there goes smooth. Evan hasn't been on a plane yet and I'm a bit nervous about how he will do. We fly out Friday and I will be there for about two weeks. Eric is staying a few days and then will fly home. He'll be back up to get Evan and me on the 17th. It's going to be a great visit!

Here are some pics of Evan. Two of them are of him with his pants on his head and the other is in the bath with fun foam shapes that mom cut out. Apparently, the fun foam sticks when it gets wet. Fun!

Evan is having a great time here in Pensacola. I got him a blow-up pool a couple of months ago and we were able to get it out and use it while we're here. It's hot! He really enjoyed it and actually sat and splashed. He has been standing a lot and he has even been letting go and standing on his own. Sometimes he holds onto the couch and walks a little but he's constantly up and down and moving around. He is a busy boy!

This afternoon, I took Evan outside for a little kiddy pool time. He liked it but he was trying to stand up and never really sat and splashed. Twice he fell...half in the pool and half in the grass. The last one finally ended the fun. I did get a few cute pics before the fun was over.

Evan has been pulling himself up on furniture and in his crib. It was quite a slow process for him to get up and now he stands up pretty quick. He likes standing in his crib and he actually is pretty good at sitting down from a standing position. It's not really graceful but he doesn't just fall down. Sometimes he does fall but rushes to get back up again. Tonight he was standing at the coffee table and let go and just stood there! I couldn't believe it! He did that twice and Eric got to see him standing. I didn't get a picture since I was preparing myself to catch him when he fell but I did get a picture right before it happened. Here it is!

New Camera

I got a new camera last weekend and I was definitely in need of one. The camera I had been using just wasn't focusing fast enough and it was 5 years old. I needed something that could keep up with Evan and focus when I needed it to. So, I have been playing with the camera and taking a bunch of pictures. I went through and picked out a few of Evan that came out pretty good. Most of them are from his Little Gym class. It was called the Bug class (4-10 months). Now he has finished that class and will move on to Birds (which is 10-19months). That should be very interesting. The other pictures are just random. Evan was my subject while I learned how to use my new camera. I love my new Sony!

I found a nice park here in Chattanooga that has baby swings. My mom and packed up Evan and we were there for a little over an hour. He got to swing for the first time! He wasn't too excited about it but I got some video of him swinging. After that he had lunch in the park at a one of the picnic tables. It was a beautiful day! As we were leaving, we saw a little creek with huge rocks where kids were playing. I'll have to take Evan back when it gets warmer and let him get in the water. I know he'll enjoy that!

9 Month Check-up

Evan went to the doctor this morning. The doctor said that he looks good and he is right on track as far as growth goes. Evan is 22.06 lbs. and 29 1/4 in. long. His head is starting to level out so his noggin size isn't off the charts anymore. I also asked about Evan's eye color since they are still blue and the Dr. told me that his eyes will stay blue and that there was a 25% chance of him having blue eyes and a 75% chance of having brown eyes. It is crazy to think that we have a baby with blue eyes.
Evan also had to have his hemoglobin checked. I was worried about that because I knew it wasn't going to be pleasant. It was a little finger prick and he didn't shed one tear! I couldn't believe it! He was just mad that the guy had his finger and wouldn't let go. What a tough little guy!
We can give Evan anything to eat and the Dr. meant ANYTHING (except honey and nuts). That is nice to hear. When he is 11 months old we can start him on real milk. I can't wait!

Today was the first time Evan went in the pool! He wasn't too happy about it at first but then he seemed to enjoy himself. His other friends Page and Abby were there too. They played together and enjoyed the relaxing swim. Evan went under water and did very well with it. It definitely startled him a bit but he never cried. He's such a big boy. Busy Weekend

We had a busy weekend and poor, little Evan was pooped out. It started Friday night when we went to a rehearsal dinner for our friends. We were out until about 9:30 which is way past Evan's bed time. Then, last night we went to the wedding and we were out until about 10:00. Evan was such a good baby even though he was up late. We were so proud of him for being so good. There was a babysitting corner at the reception and we left Evan there for a bit but that didn't last long. Several people took turns holding him and walking around. He was so good and I think he may have even enjoyed himself a little.
Today, we went to Waffle House for breakfast and then to Home Depot to get flowers. He napped for 2 hours and then had lunch outside on the porch The weather was so nice today! After lunch we went out and got more flowers and by the time we got home it was time for Evan's 2nd nap (which he did not have). He just didn't want to go to sleep. It was quite a long day for him. We gave him a nice warm bath and put him to bed (at 7:00). He was exhausted. Tomorrow I'm going to stay in and give him a chance to fully recover from his weekend of partying. We will definitely be taking it easy! Here are a few pictures from this weekend.

Evan Crawling

Evan made his first real attempt at crawling this evening! He has been so close by getting on his hands and knees but never was able to go forward...until tonight. He actually went after his baseball bat. I was so proud him and I think he was proud of himself too. I clapped for him and he just smiled. At one point it looked as if he was trying to see where he was going to go next but he's not quite ready for roaming the house yet but it won't be long. I did get a little bit on video. I'll have to get more when we have a bit more time.

I have a few pictures that I took recently while Eric's parents were here this past week. We had a great time while they were here and were sad to see them leave. Evan has a baseball bat that his Papa brought him and he loves it! He enjoys chewing on it.
Evan is really close to crawling. He moves forward a little before falling on his belly. He still gets himself stuck under the couch every once in awhile and I have to rescue him. It is so funny to watch him roll around on the floor but one day soon he's going to figure out that he can move and our world will be turned upside down. I'm looking forward to it!

Sliding Backwards

Evan hasn't started crawling yet but he is getting close. He does get on his hands and knees but then belly flops onto the floor. He has discovered that he can move himself but it's backward and not forward. While on his belly, he uses his hands to push back and ends up bumping into a wall or furniture. One time he was almost under his crib! It's too funny! Yesterday we were in the living room and several times he managed to get under the couch. He can only go so far before his head prevents him from going completely under. I had to rescue him each time. I'm surprised the dust bunnies that live under there didn't attack him! Anyway. Here's a picture I quickly took before he could get angry.

Evan has been sleeping all over his crib. He's rolling around and sleeping on his tummy. I never thought he would sleep on his tummy since he never liked tummy time but I guess he gotten used to it. I have noticed him recently sleeping on his knees. He's not quite crawling yet but he gets on his hands and knees in the crib and rocks back and forth. I was sitting here at the computer and I heard him making noise so I looked to see what he was doing (with the video monitor) and he was sleeping with his hiney in the air!! I got a picture of it from the monitor screen so it's really not clear but you can kind of see him sleeping.

Evan's top teeth are starting to come in! He hasn't been himself for the past week and he doesn't have much of an appetite (which is odd since he loves to eat). I put my finger in his mouth this morning and felt a little ridge in his gums. I hate when he's teething. He's just not a happy baby. However, it hasn't been as bad as when the bottom teeth came in. He was super cranky! Hopefully it won't be too much longer and we'll see his two front teeth! What a cutie!

We recently had to pack away the swing and the bouncer and soon the infant car seat. I installed the big boy car seat last week in my car and Eric can still use the infant seat in his truck if he had too but Evan is almost too big for it. The infant seat has a weight limit of 22lbs and he is 20 lbs right now. The swing is no longer safe since Evan tries to sit up in the swing while it's moving. I can just picture the swing falling over while he is strapped in so we went ahead and put that away. He's just growing so much! Time goes by so fast. :(

I just wanted to say that Evan is understanding sign language! I have been signing with him off and on since he was about 3 months old and he's finally starting to get it! He's not signing yet but I'm hoping it will be any day now. I have been focusing on the main signs like mommy, milk, eat, and finished. One day he was in his exersaucer and was a little whiney so I signed milk to see if that's what he wanted and he opened his mouth. He has been doing that for the sign eat as well. Now I am signing more things to him justso it will start to sink in. It will be nice to have a baby that can communicate what he wants. I just can't wait to see his first sign! Then I'll really be sigining alot with him.

Evan's bottom teeth are finally coming in!
I swear he has been teething forever! When he saw his doctor last Tuesday, we were told that there didn't look like anything was about to come through. A couple days later, I felt the little tooth breaking through. Now I can feel the other one right next to it coming in! Poor thing has been cranky and uncomfortable. I will try and get pictures of the tiny, new teeth as soon as they make their appearance. It won't be long now! Thank goodness!

Evan saw the Doctor this morning. He is 19lbs and 27in long. Big boy! His head circumference is off the charts! (of course) Doctor said he is doing great and when he's 7 months, we can start giving him soft table foods like mashed potatoes, green beans & cheerios (stuff we eat). He'll practice feeding himself. Crazy! Soon he will outgrow his infant car seat. :( Where does the time go?

A couple weeks ago, we kept a Chesapeake over night during his trip down to GA. He was found in a shelter up in KY and the Chesapeake Rescue League took him in. His name is Jude and he is a really good dog. He will stay at his foster home until a permanent home is found. Here are a few pictures. He looks like a mix between Tucker and Sadie.

For Evan's breakfast this morning, I mixed up some oatmeal, apple juice and banana with mixed berries. He has had this before and ate it with no problem. Today he wanted nothing to do with it. At first I thought that maybe his belly was bothering him or he didn't have much of an appetite since he's teething. He just didn't want to eat. So, when lunch time rolled around, I gave him some sweet potatoes and he ate it all up. I tried to give him some more mixed berry and he let me know that he didn't want it. I guess he doesn't like it. He's not much of breakfast person anyway. He prefers the veggies and meats. I don't blame him. Oatmeal can get boring after awhile (which is why I try to spice it up a bit). I may try them again tomorrow just to make sure he really doesn't like the mixed berry. This was the first time he actually didn't like something. It was pretty funny!

My parents were here this past weekend to visit with Evan. He sure has changed so much just in the last couple months. He's more vocal, he giggles more and makes everyone laugh with his fake cough (which I haven't recorded yet). He has also been shaking his head no. I'm not sure if he understands what he's doing or if it's just something he can do. Sometimes if he's fussy I'll try to give him a bottle or a pacifier and if he doesn't want it, he shakes his head no. Maybe he thinks that if he moves his head I can't stick anything in his mouth. I don't know. Also, every once in awhile if I shake my head yes he'll shake his no. It's pretty funny! He is a silly baby!

In two of the pictures, Evan is eating carrots. Somehow he managed to get them all over his face and in his hair! He looked like an umpa lumpa! He definitely got a bath later that night! That was a funny and messy experience !

Eric got a Red Sox cap before Evan was born. Of course we didn't know he was going to be a boy so I was wondering how this cap would look on a girl (just in case). When we were up north visiting family, Evan got to enjoy the exersaucer they have. He seemed to like it and so I decided to get him one. They are not cheap. I was lucky and found one here in Chattanooga on craigslist. I picked it up today and brought it home. I think he likes it. He checked out the toys on it and moved around a bit. Of course it was at the end of the day so he was getting a little cranky but still didn't seem to mind. He smiled quite a bit but everytime I tried to get his picture he stopped smiling. Silly boy! Evan doesn't always spit-up but there are times that he does. He's just not a real spitty baby. Today I got hit with at least three good ones and I mean good ones! Twice on my shirt and another time on my jeans. Plus, it got all over him! Now that's talent! I smelled like rotten cheese. It was great. What's funny is that it didn't even bother me. I just looked at it and said "awesome" and wiped it off and of course changed my shirt but not until after the second spit-up. Smart thinking I must say. Otherwise I would messed up two shirts! Way to go Evan!

Home FROM the Holidays

We had a really great time visiting family up in NH. Everyone was excited to see Evan and we were happy to be up there spending Christmas with everyone. Evan had a wonderful first Christmas. He got all kinds of toys and clothes (since he's growing like a weed)! NH got alot of snow the week before we got there and it snowed again on New Year's Eve so I was very happy that Evan got to see snow for the first time even though he won't remember it. It was definitely cold up there. On New Year's Eve, we went to visit Ryan, Sue & baby Keele in Kittery, Maine. There was another couple there that we know and they have a 20 month old son. Once the kids were in bed we all went outside to enjoy the fire that the guys made but it was so cold and windy that it was hard to stay warm. It was 6 degrees and I don't even know what the wind chill was!!!! I do know that we were drinking some fun beverages and Eric's drink actually froze! We still had a great time. We all stayed up until midnight but we complained about how late it was and that midnight seemed like it would never arrive. Life changes alot once you have little munchkin and staying up late is very hard to do. It was great to see everyone. I got a bunch of pictues!

BTW...I forgot to mention that Evan laughed out loud for the first time on December 20! We were so happy! He has been giggling off and on ever since. He's a whole new baby and seemed to happen overnight. He is cutter than ever and he makes us laugh. He so much fun!!!!

Evan had carrots for the first time today! He liked them! At least I think he liked them. He didn't make any yucky faces. So far he has had rice cereal, apple sauce and carrots. Very messy! I did get some video but I'll have to wait until I get home to upload it. I was expecting to see more of an exciting reaction but there was none. Oh well. There are plenty more foods to try!

He had a great first Christmas and got lots of fun things. Plus, he got to see some snow up here in NH! We are enjoying our visit and I know Evan is enjoying the attention. I will also post some more pictures when we get back.

We are getting ready for our trip to NH to visit family. Evan will get to see snow for his first Christmas! We are very excited and can't wait to see everyone and they can't wait to meet Evan. We will be there for about a week. I hope the weather is good since we are driving! It's going to be a long trip but definitely worth it. Merry Christmas!

Dr. Appt.

Evan saw the doctor this morning for his 4 month checkup. He weighs 16.14 lbs and is 26 in long. He is doing fine and the doctor said he looks great. Evan is definitely getting what he needs to be healthy. He's gonna be a big boy. We talked about foods and we were told that we can start him on cereal (which we have), fruits and veggies. I can't wait! It's going to be fun to see his reaction to different foods. I think he'll love it! Of course the doctor commented on his big head. He always does. Today he said he has a fat head. We thought that was pretty funny. We know he has a big noggin. It's not getting any smaller, that's for sure!
Evan did get more shots today :( Not a good way to start the day. He's actually sleeping right now and has been for over an hour. Poor thing! He's going to be a starving little baby when he wakes up. I better go get ready!

Jump & Go

I got Evan a Jump & Go for Christmas. He is so ready to be moving around but his little body just won't let him yet. I thought he would love a jumper that hangs from the doorway. He hasn't quite figured out that he's supposed to jump in it yet so he's not really able to enjoy it. Once he gets the hang of it, I think he'll absolutely love it! I took a couple pictures of him in it but he's not having much fun. At least he's not crying in these pictures. Plus, I think he'll like it more in the morning when he's fresh and happy. I had him in it this afternoon and by that time he's tired and grumpy. When he starts jumping in it, I'll get some video. I know he love it!

I also just had to share that Evan has been sleeping through the night for over a week. He was doing it before but not night every night. Just some nights here and there. Now, he sleeps from about 7:30pm to about 6:00am. Awesome! That makes mommy and daddy extremely happy!

4 Months Old!

Evan is 4 months old today! I can't believe it! He is doing very well. He has been sleeping through the night for almost a week! Before, he would sleep through the night a few nights and then it was back to a middle of the night snack. I hope he keeps this up! He goes to bed around 7:30pm and wakes up about 6:30/7am. Not too bad! We have another doctor's appointment on the 15th. We are going to discuss introducing foods. He is always starving. He is finally eating about every 2hrs and taking about 6oz. I can't wait to give him foods. I know it will be messy but I'm looking forward to seeing his reaction to different things. I have a couple new pictures but I will have to post them later. Busy, busy!

Today, Evan and I enjoyed some outside time where he eventually fell asleep. After that, we went inside and of course he was hungry so I made him a bottle. I decided that it would be fun to see what he would do with a spoon. So, after giving him a little of the bottle, I made some thick rice cereal and gave it to him. I started off by just feeding him with the spoon but he didn't know what to do with it and wasn't thrilled with the idea. I finally showed him how by pretending to eat from the spoon to show him how good it is. This helped a little. I got some in his mouth but I'm not sure how much he ate. The rest got on his bib and hands. It was a fun experience. Next time I will get it on video!

Eric and I voted this morning and the place where we vote was just down the street. We decided to walk there so we bundled up little Evan. Eric's boss got him a cute hat for winter. Soon it will be too small but for now it's perfect for when it's cold outside. I'll have to get a better picture of it again later. We were trying to get out of the house so I didn't spend too much time taking pictures. I love it!

Page and Evan were the cutest duck and turtle I have ever seen! We had a great time strolling around the neighborhood and seeing all the other costumes. It was a great Halloween!

Our friends Lynn and Nick had their baby last night. Her due date was originally November 10 but the baby couldn't wait any longer to meet his parents. Lynn's water broke yesterday afternoon and at 11:46pm, he was here. Everyone is doing well. They do not have a name picked out yet but I'm sure they will soon. He is 6lbs 7oz & 19 inches. What a cutie! We are so excited for them as they start their new family. Congratulations Lynn, Nick and baby!

Evan Finally Uses His Hands!

Evan is trying to control his arms and legs. His little arms are still flailing around like crazy and at times he is hitting himself in the face. Yesterday I gave him a toy to "play" with and he actually grabbed it and held onto it for quite sometime. I was so excited! I just had to get a picture of him holding his first toy! I was also able to get a few pics of him smiling too!

My mom got Evan a little pumpkin outfit for Holloween and I already had a little hat that matched. Plus, my neighbor Amanda got him some cut Holloween socks. Today the weather is cool enough so I dressed him in his cute outfit. The hat that I got for him is a bit too small. Every time I put it on him he cried. It's pretty tight on his big noggin. I had to just set on top of his head so it looks kind of silly. He's a cutie!

Sorry it has been awhile since I last posted. We were out of town last week.

We saw the pediatrician on Monday. Evan is 13lbs. and doing well. I can't believe how much he has changed. I finally went through his clothes and put away his newborn things. He can no longer wear them :( It's crazy how much he grows. He is smiling more and more and shows signs of enjoyment. It is definitely exciting to watch him change and I look forward to other milestones. For right now though, I wish he would slow down and not grow too fast.
The doctor gave us a nightly routine to start with him so that he will sleep more through the night. So far, it's working. I hope it's not beginners luck. We feed him around 8ish and if he falls asleep, we wake him around 10/10:30 for a bath and we feed him again and put him in his crib (around 11ish). The first night was the same. He woke around 2:30am to eat and again at 6am. Last night he slept until 4am!!!! I couldn't believe it! We are definitely on the right track. We'll see how tonight goes.

It's almost 11:00pm here in Chattanooga. Eric was exhausted after a busy day of doing yard work and Evan had a busy day just being Evan. I went to take a nice, hot bath and left Evan with Eric on the couch watching football and when I came back they were both sleeping. What's interesting about this picture is how they are sleeping. They are laying exactly the same! Like father, like son! Too funny!

One Month Old Today

Evan is 1 month old today! I can' believe it! He has changed since we brought him home a month ago. He starting to lose his hair on his head but right now it's only in the front on top so he looks like a little old man. He is little more chunky than before and his newborn clothes are starting to fit better. It's crazy! I took a couple pictures of him this morning but he was starting to wake up. I'll get some later if I'm able to. I also have a couple pictures of his name that we put in his room and the cute turtle costume I got for his first halloween. I found it at a consignment store. It was meant to be his! He is going to be so cute in it!

My First "Poopy" Experience

So, this evening, I went to change Evan's diaper. I thought it would be a good way to wake him up so that he would get ready to eat. I put him down on the changing pad, cleaned him up and was just about to put on a new diaper when his hiney erupted! I tried to catch it with the wipe that I had but it was coming to fast. Before I could grab another wipe, poop started to shoot out. I was laughing and screaming. My mother-in-law came in to help and she almost got sprayed. I finally got a washcloth to catch the poop. I had one for his pee pee and one for his hiney. They both got dirty and Evan was wet with pee and covered in poo. It was definitely bath time. He hated every minute of the bath and all he wanted to do was eat. Poor thing and poor me! It was quite an experience.

Oh, and by the way, he spit up on me earlier today and it went all down my shirt and into my bra! He must have had it in for me today. No worries. I just laughed at the whole situation. It was pretty funny.

Evan Update

I just wanted to give an update on our little munchkin. Evan is doing great and we are enjoying every minute of him. Eric and I are adjusting to our new lifestyle. We are definitely not getting the sleep we used to get but it hasn't been too bad. So far we have been able to get 3-4 hours of sleep at one time before Evan wakes up and wants to eat and he is only waking up once in the night. I think that's pretty good. The main thing that we are trying to master is putting him to bed. That is not easy but we found out that Mylicon drops for gas are the best thing ever!

We have gone trough many diapers with our little man. He is a pooping machine! He is also good at peeing and so far my mom, Eric and I have been sprinkled on in some way. Today when I was changing his diaper, he started to pee. Luckily for me I didn't get wet but the window behind the changing table got sprayed. Thank goodness that was easy to clean up. We have to be quick with the diapers because we never know when we might get wet.

We are learning more and more everyday. It's never ending. It's great though and we are having fun. Here are a couple more pics of Evan.

Well, as everyone probably knows, I didn't have to wait until Monday to be induced. I woke up Sunday morning and I thought my water broke. I always assumed that it would be a gush of water but it wasn't. I called my doctor and the nurse told us to go on to the hospital because she said it sounds like my water had truly broken. I started having light contractions as we were getting our bags to head to the hospital and on our way they slowly started to increase. By the time we got there, the contractions were intensifying but still nothing unbearable. The nurse said that it was the real deal and I was taken to the labor and delivery room. I got hooked up to machines and by this time the contractions were getting to be more uncomfortable. They were ready to go ahead and start the pitocin to speed up the laboring process but before they did that, I got my epidural. Amazing stuff! Not real pleasant to get but worth it! Everything after that was smooth sailing. I just sat back and relaxed having contractions but not feeling a thing. By late afternoon the nurse told me it was time to push and I pushed for about 2 hours. The baby was not easy to get out. The doctor used the vacuum and that didn't work so he then tried the forceps. This was our last attempt. If this didn't work we were probably looking at a C-section. At this point it was pretty serious and I just wanted the baby out. The forceps saved the day and our baby was born. Come to find out, the baby's head was not postioned the right way for delivery. It was turned to the side. The doctor said "It's a boy!" and we were shocked. We would have been shocked either way but since so many people thought it was going to be a girl, I think somehow we thought the same. I was so releived when he was out. It was such a surreal experience to finally be able to see him.
Everything went well and I was glad that I didn't have to be induced. He just came on his own and he was meant to be here on August 10th and not the 11th. He is the custest baby ever! It has been pretty crazy here the past few days but now I hope everything will start to mellow out. He is so precious and it's amazing how much love you can instantly feel towards someone you have never met. I just love holding him and I could just hold him all day everyday. I still can't believe he's here. I thought that day would never come. Eric and I are so happy.

Baby Watch

We are still waiting for a baby but I think we are going to have to wait until Monday. I was hoping that it would come on its own but I don't see that happening. I know we still have a couple more days before Monday but.... it just doesn't want to come. My mom found something online about starting labor by eating salad with balsamic vinegar dressing. I have had salad with this dressing three nights in a row and it hasn't done anything. Most of the things that people say to try to do to start labor, don't work. We're just going to have to force the baby out early (5am) Monday. We will keep everyone posted on any updates.

I had another doctor's appointment today. No change from last week so everything is still the same. Right now we are scheduled for Monday the 11th to be induced. However, I guess anything can still happen but if we don't have a baby this week then we definitley have one a week from today. Very exciting! I can't wait. I will keep posting any new updates if anything changes.

My Friends from Tampa

My friends Kari and Mindi came into town recently. We had a great time and it was so good to see them. It's been about a year since I saw them last. It was a nice relaxing visit. We all went out to dinner and to the Tennessee Aquarium and had a blast. We mainly just sat around in our PJs hanging around the house. Good time! We got several fun pictures.
